Heritage Sweet Bites
This plating is inspired by my childhood memories. During winter vacations, I would visit my grandmother’s house, excited to eat Chitol Pitha made with love. In the city, you’ll find this pitha served with different spicy vorta, but in our village, we always had it the simple, traditional way—with fresh coconut and sweet khejur gur. That taste, full of warmth and nostalgia, is something I still cherish. For the plating, I wanted to keep it natural and comforting, just like how we used to eat it at home. The Chitol Pitha is placed in a relaxed, overlapping way, showing its soft, golden texture. The coconut and khejur gur sit beside it, casually mixed, just the way my grandmother would serve it. The colors—the warm brown of the pitha, the white coconut, and the rich caramel gur—make the dish look just as inviting as it tastes. To make it even more special, a light drizzle of khejur gur over the pitha adds a glossy touch. Serving it on a simple ceramic plate or a banana leaf would bring out its rustic charm. This plating isn’t about fancy decorations—it’s about celebrating a piece of home, tradition, and the sweet joy of winter.
